The Department of English and Modern European Languages, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Gautam Buddha University has observed ‘Indian English Literature Day’ on 20th November, 2024 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Raja Rao. A series of events including an invited talk has been organized from 18-20th November 2024 to observe the Day. On 18th November students’ activities like Quiz, Painting/Poster making and Elocution completions were conducted to inspire and introduce the students to the rich tapestry of Indian English Literature. In continuation on 20th November, 2024, Dr. Debjani Sengupta, writer and Associate Professor, University of Delhi was invited as the Chief Guest and Speaker of the event. She delivered her lecture on “Indian English Poetry: Text and Context”. Dr. Sumitra Huidrom, Head of the Department, had given the introductory note and Professor Bandana Pandey, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences had given the welcome note. The event came to an end on 20th November with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Bipasha Shom, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Modern European Languages.
